Nationals place David Carpenter on DL; recall Sammy Solis

The Nationals placed pitcher David Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list Friday, the team announced. Carpenter has been bothered by inflammation in his right shoulder.

With Carpenter on the DL, the team recalled left-handed pitcher Sammy Solis from the minor leagues. Solis produced a 4.50 ERA over 10 innings of work earlier this season.
