Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman: Getting rest Thursday

Zimmerman is not in the Nationals' Thursday lineup against the Pirates, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.

The major-league RBI leader (38) will get a breather in the matinee after going 0-for-4 Wednesday night. Manager Dusty Baker wants to rest him every five days or so, according to Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post. Even with a recent 2-for-15 stretch, Zimmerman has regained the elite upside he used to possess thanks to changes to his swing, which have in turn increased his launch angle and power. Zimmerman should return Friday. Adam Lind subs in at first, batting seventh.
