Valdez was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday,
Valdez made one appearance for the Padres before being sent back to El Paso, striking out three and walking one through three scoreless innings. He'll continue to serve as organizational bullpen depth for San Diego moving forward. Carlos Asuaje was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.
