Padres pitcher James Shields was not sharp during Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Reds.
Shields received his fifth loss of the season after allowing five runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings. He also struck out seven and walked four.
He is now 8-5 with a 3.89 ERA. Shields is winless in his last five starts, but has produced three quality starts in those outings.
