Those figuring that Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland was destined to come back to earth likely cited two straight hitless efforts for proof. But he might just be having one of those years - as his effort Thursday in Minnesota indicates.

Moreland fell only a triple short of the cycle in leading the offensive charge in a taut victory. His two-run homer in the fourth opened the scoring for Texas and two-run double in the fifth gave them the lead. He also singled twice in achieving the first four-hit game of his career.

His 17 home runs are only six short of his career-high and his .295/.345/.511 slash line is easily his best ever.
