Garrett (3-3) allowed six runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five batters over just four innings during Thursday's loss to the Cubs.

This was a daunting matchup for the rookie lefty, and after Chicago scored 16 runs through the first two games of the series, the Cubs kept it rolling early in Thursday's game. Garrett has flashed tremendous upside, but he's also had a couple rough outings. For the season, the freshman sports a 5.18 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 7.4 K/9. Being selective with his matchups going forward is likely the best approach to utilizing Garrett. If he sticks in the rotation, Garrett projects to make his next start against Cleveland, which will be another difficult test.
