Reed yielded four runs on six hits, struck out nine and walked three over seven innings in his major league debut against the Astros on Saturday, but did not receive a decision.
The four runs he allowed came on a pair of homers, one in the first and the other in the seventh. It's too bad Reed tossed up the second home run because he had a two-run lead heading into the seventh. Although impressive, the nine strikeouts in seven frames wasn't that unusual for Reed, as he recorded 63 punchouts over 64.2 innings at Triple-A Louisville this season. He will likely make his second start Friday versus the Padres.
