Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
Diaz has not fared well through eight appearances in the majors this season, allowing three home runs in just 6.2 innings of work. With recent call up Robert Stephenson set to start for Cincinnati on Tuesday, Diaz will move down in a corresponding roster transaction, but he figures to get another chance with the big league team at some point.
