The Royals have sent shortstop Christian Colon to Triple-A Omaha and promoted fellow infielder Dusty Coleman from the same team, MLB.com has reported.

Colon played sparingly after a stint as a starter in the wake of an injury to Alcides Escobar. A 3-for-22 slide has lowered his average from .286 to .244.

The 28-year-old Coleman should finally receive an opportunity to make his big-league debut, but his promotion might be mistimed. He is in a 2-for-17 slump, though his slash line still stands at a fine .303/.383/.469.
