Young will start the 2017 season as part of the Royals' bullpen, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

Young was in a battle for the final rotation spot with Travis Wood and Nate Karns, but the recently acquired Karns eventually won the job. The 37-year-old fared better as a reliever than a starter in 2016, and he'll head back to the bullpen to start the season, though he could earn a few spot starts throughout the year.
