Royals pitcher Kyle Zimmer sustained a setback in his surgically-repaired right shoulder and has temporarily stopped his throwing program, according to the Kansas City Star

Zimmer began experiencing soreness in his shoulder while throwing at the team's Arizona complex. He was expected to join Double-A Northwest Arkansas this Sunday but will no longer do so. Instead, he'll stay in Arizona to battle through this latest issue.

Ever since he was drafted in 2012, Zimmer has dealt with injuries. He hasn't made it out of a professional season without a surgery.

The 23-year-old is expected to resume bullpen sessions next week with the hope of restarting his throwing program soon thereafter.
