Royals release Luis Mendoza

The Royals have released pitcher Luis Mendoza so he can sign with the Nippon Ham Fighters, according to the Kansas City Star.

Mendoza had three seasons of arbitration remaning on his Royals contract, but the team allowed him to go back to Japan. Mendoza had a 5.36 ERA in 94 innings with Kansas City.
