Vogelsong asked for and was granted his release from the Twins on Tuesday, Rhett Bolinger of MLB.com reports.
Vogelsong was fighting for the fifth starter role with the Twins this spring, but he was always a long shot compared to younger options and he didn't do much to help his cause, posting a 7.27 ERA across 8.2 innings (five games). The 39-year-old will now look to get a shot with another team before camp ends.
