This is the week Chris Young and Josh Tomlin have been waiting for

Because neither is normally close to being even an average strikeout pitcher, Chris Young and Josh Tomlin rarely find themselves on the minds of owners in standard mixed Fantasy leagues. Yet in Fantasy Week 12 (June 16-22), both are actually viable starts in those formats.

On Friday's Pitching Options segment of Fantasy Baseball Today, I explained why Young could be due for possibly his best week of the season. (Short version: He will face the Padres, who have scored the fewest runs in the majors, and the Royals, who are the team with the lowest Isolated Power.) Tomlin's home starts against the Angels and Tigers look more imposing, but as I will explain in my upcoming Fantasy First Pitch column, those teams won't likely be as threatening as usual at Progressive Field.

Tomlin was not on my initial list of borderline two-start options for standard mixed league owners, but circumstances unrelated to him or the Indians gave me pause to amend my list. Because the Nationals have yet to commit to either Gio Gonzalez or Tanner Roark for Tuesday's start against the Astros, neither one is currently a safe two-start option to pursue. I removed Roark from the list and am withholding Gonzalez, and Tomlin was close enough to making the initial draft that I decided to add him, filling the void left by Roark.
