Hicks is out of the lineup Monday against the Indians.
Manager Brad Ausmus wanted to keep the hot bat of Alex Avila in the lineup, so he'll cover first base Monday, leaving no spot for Hicks. Though he's been an effective fill-in for Miguel Cabrera (groin), batting 11-for-26 with a homer and seven RBI since his promotion from Triple-A Toledo, Hicks doesn't figure to remain with the big club much longer. Cabrera is expected to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday, with Hicks a good bet to be sent back to Toledo in a corresponding move.
