Saupold was arrested early Sunday and charged with assault following an altercation outside a Toledo bar. He was released on a bond and pitched the next day.

Toledo police reported Saupold was drinking with two other minor league players from the Pirates system when a disagreement with an another man escalated into a large fight. Police attended the scene and all four men were arrested. The Tigers have not suspended Saupold and have indicated the team will let the legal system take its course. Saupold started Monday for the Mud Hens and pitched five scoreless innings for his seventh win of the season. He allowed six hits.
