Hector Santiago -- who was initially slated to start Friday -- is dealing with a bruised thumb, so Dean will slot into the rotation for a spot start. The lefty has had a rocky go of things in six starts at the major league level this season, posting a 5.81 ERA and 1.52 WHIP while allowing five home runs in 31 innings.
