May was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte following Monday's game, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The White Sox will wait to announce a corresponding move until Tuesday. May went just 2-for-36 over his 15 games with the White Sox and struck out 17 times, so it clearly wasn't happening for him at the MLB level. Leury Garcia will hold down the center-field job for now, but it's unclear how long that'll last.
