Garcia said prior to Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Blue Jays that he was only available as a pinch runner for the contest while he continues to experience swelling beneath the index and middle fingers of his left hand, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Garcia also went for a follow-up X-ray which ruled out any sort of fracture, but it's clear the outfielder isn't progressing as the White Sox would have hoped after he was able to pinch hit three games earlier. It's now been a full week since Garcia was last included in the lineup, prompting manager Rick Renteria to acknowledge that the 26-year-old could require a trip to the disabled list if he fails to show improvement heading into Tuesday's series opener with the Twins. Willy Garcia and Alen Hanson would continue to benefit from increased at-bats if Leury Garcia misses additional time.
