Ellis is in the lineup and batting eighth for Wednesday's game against the Brewers. Ellis will get his third start in six games, but doesn't have a great matchup as he is hitting just .186 against right-handed pitching on the season, and opposing pitcher Junior Guerra has been throwing the ball well for Milwaukee, going 4-1 with a 3.67 ERA.
Ellis is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates, J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports. Ellis typically catches Sunday's starter, Clayton Kershaw, but the Dodgers will instead start Yasmani Grandal behind the plate Sunday evening. Ellis did get the start Saturday night in Pittsburgh and went 2-for-3 at the dish, but no word of an injury has surfaced since then. Whether or not Ellis starts the next time Kershaw takes the hill is a situation worth monitoring.
Ellis is in the lineup and batting seventh Wednesday against Chicago. Ellis will make his 22nd start behind the dish this season in place of the slumping Yasmani Grandal. The 35-year-old hasn't been much better, though, as he's 7-for-37 (.189) in his last 12 games. He's only played one game in the Dodger's last seven so he will likely be out there to prove something in Game-3 of the series.
Ellis is in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Padres. Ellis will fill in for Yasmani Grandal behind the plate Friday. He has a hit in each of his last three games started. Expect him to return to his usual reserve role in Satruday's contest.
Ellis is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins. He typically catches for friend Clayton Kershaw, but Yasmani Grandal will get that honor Tuesday despite going 0-for-8 in his last two starts. Ellis, meanwhile, is 4-for-his-last-8 with a homer, but he's just 8-for-34 (.235 average) on the season.
