The Indians have released minor-league infielder Matt Antonelli, the club announced Tuesday. Antonelli was a project for the club, as the 28-year-old was a top-50 prospect according to Baseball America in 2008. The 2006 first-round MLB Draft pick made his first and last appearance in the majors for San Diego in 2008.
The Yankees acquired relief pitcher Chad Qualls from Philadelphia Sunday, and designated minor-league infielder Matt Antonelli for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
