    • Valbuena went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the A's. The veteran infielder made things interesting in the ninth by plating Jose Altuve with his run-scoring hit, but A's reliever Ryan Dull was able to get Marwin Gonzalez on strikes to end the game. Valbuena has started July off wielding a hot bat, as he now has a six-game hitting streak and is slashing .345/.412/.690 over his first 29 at-bats of the month.

The Astros were lacking offensive production from the hot-corner earlier this season, but Valbuena is hitting .326/.445/.539 with four homers, 12 RBI and 19 walks over the last 30 days. His nine home runs are well behind the 25 he hit last season, but he's getting on base (.359) at a much higher clip and his .809 OPS is currently the best of his career.
