Free agent Daniel Moskos, who last pitched in the major leagues with Pittsburgh, is destined for Tommy John surgery, sources have told MLBDailyDish.com. Moskos showed some promise with the Pirates in 2011 with a 2.96 ERA in 31 relief appearances. He was waived recently by the Dodgers.
The Dodgers announced the signings of catcher J.C. Boscan, infielders Brendan Harris and Clint Robinson and pitcher Daniel Moskos to minor-league contracts with invitations to spring training Wednesday. Boscan went 2 for 9 with the Cubs last season while also hitting .232/.297/.270 with 18 RBI in 233 at-bats with Triple-A Iowa. Harris hit .206/.252/.355 with four home runs and nine RBI in 107 at-bats with the Angels. Robinson hit .254/.333/421 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI in 397 at-bats between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo. Moskos went 2-1 with a 4.97 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 28:15 K:BB ratio in 29 innings with Triple-A Charlotte.
The White Sox made another round of roster cuts Tuesday, optioning pitcher Deunte Heath and third baseman Brent Morel to Triple-A Charlotte. Chicago also reassigned pitchers Daniel Moskos and Zach Stewart and shortstop Carlos Sanchez to its minor-league camp.
