The Tigers have re-signed infielder/outfielder Kevin Russo to a minor-league deal, ESPN reports. The deal does not include an invitation to spring training. Russo hit .213/.252/.309 with three home runs, 41 RBI and nine stolen bases in 376 at-bats with Triple-A Toledo in his first season in the Tigers organization, spending time at second base and third base as well as in center field.
With spring training winding down, the Tigers made another round of roster cuts Tuesday, sending pitcher Jose Alvarez, catcher Brad Davis and third baseman Kevin Russo to their minor-league camp. Detroit also optioned pitcher Luke Putkonen to Triple-A Toledo.
The Yankees sent INF Kevin Russo back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre on Tuesday. He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment on Friday.
