Rondon hasn't looked back since reclaiming the closer's role in late July, converting 18 of 19 save opportunities since July 29. Posting excellent peripherals across the board -- including a 1.67 ERA -- Rondon has been an asset for fantasy owners this season.

Rondon continues his fantastic season for the Cubs, as this outing lowered his ERA to 1.64. The closer had allowed five runs over his previous five outings, so it was nice to see a lengthy bounce-back here. The 33-pitch outing marks his longest of the season and that alone would make you believe that he might not be available for Thursday's game against these Pirates.

With the Cubs leading by four, Fernando Rodney started the ninth inning by letting the first two men to reach safely. So, with the tying run in the on-deck circle, manager Joe Maddon summoned his stopper. Rondon struck out the first to men he faced and then got a game-ending groundball to close out the 7-3 win. Rondon earned his 28th save of the season, needing just 11 pitches to retire his three batters.

Rondon closed out Jake Arrieta's gem over the Diamondbacks, as the Cubs picked up the 2-0 victory. Rondon allowed a pair of hits, but needed just 10 pitches to record a scoreless ninth inning. Rondon has converted each of his last seven save opportunities.
Cubs closer Hector Rondon suffered his third loss of the season, as he served up the go-ahead, three-run home run to Joey Votto in the 7-4 loss to the Reds on Wednesday. Rondon (5-3) snapped an 11-game scoreless streak with Wednesday's blast. It was the first home run he had allowed since May 22, spanning 41 appearances.
