    • Cashner held the Cardinals to one run on three hits while striking out eight without a walk over 5.2 innings Thursday, but didn't receive a decision. He left leading 2-1, but the Cards rallied late. Still, Cashner's turned in two consecutive one-run outings with a composite 17:0 K:BB following the All-Star break. That has to feel good for his fantasy owners, as he was bashed for eight runs in his final start before the break. It's hard to know what to expect from him moving forward, as Cashner's enticed us before, only to disappoint again, but it's still worth stashing the veteran righty in case he changes venues to a more competitive team.

    • Cashner earned his fourth win of the season Friday versus the Giants, allowing just one run with nine strikeouts compared to no walks across six strong innings. Cashner was efficient Friday as he needed just 85 pitches to get through six frames, 60 of which went for strikes, and he out-dueled Madison Bumgarner for the victory. The right-hander also struck out more than six batters for the first time this season, and he lowered his ERA to 5.05. Although his overall number are still disappointing, Cashner has now delivered five quality starts in his last eight attempts and will look to build off of Friday's start versus the Cardinals on Wednesday.

    • Cashner had a night to forget Friday at the Dodgers, as he allowed eight runs on eight hits and three walks in just 2.2 innings. He struck out two as he fell to 3-7. Cashner was bashed early and often Friday, as he gave up four home runs during his short time on the mound and six extra-base hits in total. The right-hander delivered a quality start in his first outing after a month-long absence, but he was unable to come through this time around, and he saw his ERA balloon nearly a full run to an unsightly 5.40. He will try to right the ship after the All-Star break.

    • Cashner (neck) has been activated from the DL and will start Sunday against the Yankees, MLB.com's AJ Cassavell reports. Cashner hasn't pitched since June 10 due to a neck injury, as he was removed from that outing after just six pitches. His health now appears to be back on track, and the right-hander will get a chance establish a rhythm against a Yankees team that is 5-5 in their last 10 games. Even though Cashner is starting, don't expect him to pitch too deep into this contest, as he only threw 38 pitches in his sole rehab start.

    • Padres' Andrew Cashner: Set for rehab start
      By RotoWire Staff

Cashner (neck) will make a rehab start with High-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday. A neck strain forced Cashner to the DL back on June 11 but he's ready to return to active competition with Lake Elsinore. While the team has not outlined a plan for Cashner's rehab, he may need an additional start in the minors to build up his pitch count. Either way, he appears on track to return before the All-Star break.
