Mills (shoulder) was assigned to minor league camp Saturday. Mills, a 30-year-old left-handed starter, had yet to throw in camp while dealing with the shoulder injury.
Mills is experiencing shoulder soreness and he will see a doctor Saturday, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports. He is in camp as a non-roster invitee and has yet to pitch, so it's looking like he is a long shot to make the team. If the shoulder checks out Mills will likely head to Triple-A to serve as organizational depth at the end of camp.
The Athletics have optioned pitcher Brad Mills to Triple-A Nashville two days after designating him for assignment. Mills performed decently in his lone start following his promotion. He allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings in a no-decision at Baltimore.
The Athletics designated LHP Brad Mills for assignment, the team announced on Saturday. The move removes Mills from the team's 40-man roster. Mills had a 5.40 ERA in one five-inning appearance for the team.
Athletics starter Brad Mills appeared in his first MLB game since August 11, 2014 and made his first start since July 1 of last year. Mills allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings and left with the lead. The Oakland bullpen couldn't preserve the lead, however.
