The Angels designated pitcher Jeremy McBryde for assignment Tuesday, reports the Los Angeles Times. McBryde has never appeared in an MLB game.
The Angels have optioned pitchers Daniel Reynolds and Jeremy McBryde to Triple-A Salt Lake. Reynolds tossed two scoreless innings in three appearances this spring, striking out three and walking two. McBryde allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings across four appearances. The team has also re-assigned pitcher Frank Herrmann to minor-league camp.
The Angels have signed pitcher Jeremy McBryde to a major-league contract and designated outfielder Roger Kieschnick for assignment, the team announced Friday. McBryde made 51 appearances for Triple-A Sacramento in 2014, going 2-3 with a 2.22 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 66:26 K:BB ratio in 65 innings. It was his first exposure to Triple-A batting after spending seven seasons in the San Diego organization. Kieschnick went 8 for 41 with Arizona in 2014 and hit .260/.317/.461 with 15 home runs, 49 RBI and five stolen bases in 369 at-bats with Triple-A Reno.
The Athletics re-assigned infielder Shane Peterson, pitchers Andrew Werner, Jose Flores and Jeremy McBryde and catcher Bruce Maxwell to minor-league camp on Sunday.
