Chisenhall (illness) has been scratched from Friday's lineup prior to the game against Baltimore, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports. Manager Terry Francona said that Chisenhall was out due to "intestinal turmoil" after initially being slated to play in right against Dylan Bundy and the Orioles. Chisenhall should be considered day-to-day, and could likely be back in the lineup Saturday if he recovers.
Chisenhall is out of the lineup for Saturday's matchup with the Yankees. Chisenhall will get a day off as Abraham Almonte gets a spot start in right field and bats eighth. Chisenhall is slashing .375/.369/.672 with a 1.041 OPS over his last 16 games.
Chisenhall went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's 10-2 victory over the Yankees. The 27-year-old went deep for the first time in July, after finishing June with three round-tripper over the last four games of the month. Chisenhall has four-and-five-hit outings in July, but Friday's homer is curiously his only hit otherwise over 31 at-bats.
Chisenhall went 4-for-5 with three RBI and scored a run in Tuesday's 12-1 blowout win over the Tigers. Chisenhall hit two doubles and a pair of two-out RBI while upping his average to .311 on the season. Coming off a disappointing season in which he was demoted to the minors in 2015, the outfielder is now on pace to challenge some of the numbers he posted in a career year two seasons ago. Over his last nine games, Chisenhall has gone 18-for-38 (.474) with 10 RBI.
Chisenhall is out of the lineup Monday against the Tigers. Detroit will send southpaw Daniel Norris to the mound Monday evening, and considering that Chisenhall is batting 40 points less against left-handers this season, manager Terry Francona simply appears to be playing matchups. Abraham Almonte will get the starting nod in right field in his stead.
