Among the cuts were top pitching prospects Justin Nicolino and Anthony DeSclafani, who were reassigned to minor-league camp. Jesus Sanchez, Colby Suggs and Avery Romero were also reassigned to minor-league camp, while Michael Brady and Kyle Jensen were optioned to Triple-A New Orleans. Grant Dayton, Angel Sanchez, Jose Urena, Jacob Realmuto and Brent Keys were optioned to Double-A Jacksonville.

Sanchez made 48 relief appearances with Nashville in 2013, going 4-3 with a 2.83 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 50:18 K:BB ratio in 70 innings. He posted strong numbers in 2012 in his first season as a full-time reliever, going 7-3 with a 1.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 64:22 K:BB ratio in 71 2/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A.
