The Rangers signed third baseman Brent Lillibridge, second baseman Josh Wilson, third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff, right-hander Armando Rodriguez and right-hander Doug Mathis to minor-league contracts Thursday. Lillibridge, Wilson, Kouzmanoff and Rodriguez also received invitations to spring training. Kouzmanoff is the most notable of these players, having hit 15-plus homers in four straight seasons from 2007 to 2010. But the 32-year-old hasn't played in the majors since 2011, which he split between the Athletics and the Rockies.
The New York Mets made their first round of cuts on Thursday and moved the following players to their minor-league camp: Matt Harvey, Jeurys Familia, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Matt den Dekker, Josh Stinson, Jenrry Mejia, Juan Lagares, Reese Havens, Wilmer Flores, Armando Rodriguez and Robert Carson.
