Outfielder Cody Ross is getting interest from teams about a minor-league deal, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. However, at this stage, the veteran outfielder can afford to wait for the right team, per Heyman. Ross was designated for assignment by the Athletics in early May. He was also released by the Diamondbacks in early April.
The Athletics have released outfielder Cody Ross after designating him for assignment on Saturday, according to MLB transactions. Ross struggled in nine games for Oakland this season, posting a .091 average with three RBI in 22 at-bats.
The Athletics announced several roster moves prior to Saturday's contest against the Rangers, per MLB.com. The club placed Eric O'Flaherty on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder strain, and designated outfielder Cody Ross for assignment. Billy Burns and R.J. Alvarez were both recalled from Triple-A Nashville. Burns is leading off for the A's on Saturday. Oakland also reclaimed Alex Hassan off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A.
Athletics left fielder Mark Canha was not listed in the team's starting lineup for Saturday's game. In his place, Cody Ross gets his second start of the season in left, batting eighth. Ross also has four starts in right this year. The A's are -115 money line favorites at home against Houston.

Catcher Stephen Vogt, first baseman Ike Davis, center fielder Sam Fuld and second baseman Eric Sogard were all out of Sunday's starting lineup.
