Lee had his contract sold to the Seibu Lions of the Nippon Professional Baseball League on Friday. Lee had appeared sparingly in the big league bullpen, but spent most of the 2015 season with Triple-A. He'll spend the 2016 season in Japan in hopes of taking on a more significant role.
Indians pitcher C.C. Lee was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. The Tribe brought in some reinforcements for the final two weeks, promoting Lee to the bullpen and adding first baseman Jesus Aguilar and catcher Adam Moore. Aside from one appearance with the big club back in June, Lee spent the entire year at Columbus, posting a 3.39 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB in 58.1 innings.
As expected, the Indians activated pitcher Scott Atchison from the disabled list prior to Saturday's game. Atchison has been recovering from an ankle injury and completed a minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Akron. To make room, the Indians optioned C.C. Lee to Triple-A Columbus. Lee allowed a run in 2/3 of an inning in his only appearance with the Indians.
The Indians recalled reliever Chen-Chang Lee from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. To clear a roster spot, reliever Austin Adams was optioned to Columbus. Lee is up for the first time in 2015. He went 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 23 innings for Columbus. Adams is 0-0 with a 2.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and one save in seven relief appearances for Cleveland.
The Indians announced Monday they optioned pitcher C.C. Lee to Triple-A Columbus. They also reassigned seven players to minor-league camp, including top prospect Francisco Lindor. Also sent to minor-league camp were infielder Audy Ciriaco, outfielder Destin Hood, pitcher Dustin Molleken, catcher Adam Moore, pitcher Bryan Price and pitcher Michael Roth.
