Tapia was designated for assignment by the Padres on Saturday. The 31-year-old owns a 3.57 ERA in 17.2 major-league innings this season, but his 14:12 K:BB hardly inspires confidence. He was optioned in early July and will now vacate the 40-man roster as well, clearing space for Jackson Wolf to join ahead of his major-league debut.... See More ... See Less

He tossed 17 of 26 pitches for strikes to quickly take care of the Reds in order over two frames. He lowered his ERA to 3.48 with an 11:6 K:BB through 10.1 innings this season. With an 8-3 final score, normal closer Josh Hader didn't get the chance to enter the contest.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Domingo Tapia: Recalled from El Paso
The Padres recalled Tapia from Triple- El Paso on Monday. Tapia has already been up and down with the Padres, and it's likely he'll continue to make the trip from El Paso to San Diego a few more times in 2023. The right-hander will be a low-leverage option while he's with the Padres in this stint. Ray Kerr was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -

Padres' Domingo Tapia: Lands minors deal with Friars
Tapia signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Sunday. Tapia elected free agency earlier this offseason after spending the 2022 season in the Royals and Athletics organizations. He made all 11 of his appearances at the big-league level with Oakland, logging an 8.47 ERA and 2.29 WHIP in 17 innings. The 31-year-old right-handed reliever will likely open the 2023 campaign at Triple-A El Paso.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Domingo Tapia: Passes through waivers
The Athletics outrighted Tapia to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. He'll stay in the Oakland organization after he cleared waivers following his removal from the 40-man roster. Prior to being designated for assignment, Tapia made 11 appearances out of the big-league bullpen and turned in an 8.47 ERA over 17 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Domingo Tapia: Designated for assignment
Tapia was designated for assignment Sunday. Tapia made two appearances after being called up Friday, but he would have been unavailable for at least a couple days after throwing 1.2 innings Saturday, so the A's decided to replace him in the bullpen with a fresh arm. He threw the ball well for the A's in 2021, so he could garner some interest on the waiver wire.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Domingo Tapia: Recalled from Triple-A
Tapia was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. The 31-year-old righty has made nine appearances for the Athletics this season out of the bullpen and possesses a 7.80 ERA and 2.20 WHIP over 15 innings of work. He's had much more success in Triple-A Las Vegas, where his numbers drop down to a much better 1.95 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 27.2 innings. Zach Logue was optioned to Las Vegas in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -

Athletics' Domingo Tapia: Optioned to Las Vegas
Tapia was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Tapia was recalled Tuesday and made one one appearance during his time on the roster, allowing two runs in 2.1 innings of relief Wednesday against the Mariners. He's now given up six earned runs in 3.2 major-league innings this season, which doesn't help his case for a return to the roster. Sam Moll returned from the COVID-19 injured list in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Domingo Tapia: Sent down Wednesday
Tapia was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. Tapia made two relief appearances for the Athletics after being called up in late May. He tossed a scoreless inning during his first outing but will be sent down after giving up four runs on six hits in one-third of an inning against the Red Sox on Saturday. Jared Koenig's contract was selected as part of a corresponding move, and he'll start Wednesday's game in Atlanta.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Domingo Tapia: Perfect in team debut
Tapia, just promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, fired a perfect ninth inning in a loss to the Astros on Monday. The journeyman reliever had to work a bit for his outs -- he fired 20 pitches overall during his one frame and induced eight foul balls -- but he got through his debut frame for Oakland unscathed. Tapia has enjoyed success in each of his prior big-league stints with the team and had posted a solid 3.24 ERA at Triple-A Las Vegas despite the hitter-friendly environment of the Pacific Coast League, so he could develop into a solid mid-to-later-inning option with a fair share of hold opportunities over time.... Tapia was claimed off waivers by the A's in late April, and he'll now join the big-league club after spending the past month with Las Vegas. He has a 3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB over 13.1 innings at the Triple-A level this season.... See More ... See Less
