    • Mariners minor-league pitcher Victor Sanchez is reportedly showing brain activity after suffering a major head injury in a boating accident Feb. 14, according to Lavinotino.com (per SeattlePI.com). "We received, fortunately, the good news that his brain is alive," Emilio Carrasquel, a Mariners scout, told the website. "It is a slight, very slight, sign that there is hope. I have been here since Friday and (Monday) we heard good news." Although he is still unconscious, Sanchez is showing more positive signs he will wake from his coma.

      Mariners pitcher Victor Sanchez will have an EEG on Monday, according to UltimasNoticias.com. The EEG will determine Sanchez's brain activity. He remains in critical condition after being involved in a boating incident Feb. 15.

Sanchez underwent a craniectomy after he was struck by a boat's propeller while swimming. He's been able to move both his arms and legs in recent days, though still may require additional surgery.     • Mariners pitching prospect Victor Sanchez remains in critical condition in Venezuela after undergoing surgery for head wounds suffered Friday when he was struck by a boat's propeller while swimming, The News Tribune reported through Lavinotinto.com. The reports from Lavinotinto.com state Sanchez underwent a craniectomy (a removal of a portion of the cranium) and a drainage of hematomas (collections of blood outside of blood vessels). While the Mariners have confirmed the 20-year-old Sanchez was hospitalized after the accident, they did not offer an update on his status Monday. Although, the Mariners remain limited by federal health reporting laws.
