    • Yankees, Padres agree to Chase Headley trade

      The Yankees have acquired third baseman Chase Headley from the Padres Tuesday, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. Headley has struggled this season, hitting just .229/.296/.355 in 77 games, though he has been hot lately. Though he has just one home run in the month of July, he is hitting .323 with a .785 OPS in the month, his best so far. The Padres will reportedly receive infielder Yangervis Solarte and pitching prospect Rafael De Paula from the Yankees, while sending $1 million in cash to the Yankees. Solarte has slowed down from a hot start and is hitting just .254/.337/.381 this season, while DePaula has a 4.15 ERA in 89 innings for Class A Tampa this season.

    • Rafael De Paula named to Futures Game

      Yankees prospect Rafael De Paula will pitch for the World during the Futures Game, MLB.com reports Wednesday. De Paula has been pitching well with Class A Tampa and Charleston this season. De Paula, who was just promoted to Tampa from Charleston, has gone 6-2 overall this season over 14 starts with a 2.73 ERA and 102 strikeouts over 69 1/3 innings. The 22-year-old was ranked the organization's No. 19 prospect by MLB.com before the season.

      The Yankees promoted pitcher Rafael De Paula to high Class A Tampa Sunday, according to Baseball America. De Paula had a 2.94 ERA with 96 strikeouts and 23 walks in 64 1/3 innings over 13 starts with low Class A Charleston.

      Yankees starting pitcher prospect Rafael De Paula continues to post strong results for Class A Charleston. De Paula is 6-2 with a 2.43 ERA and .174 opponents' batting average through 12 starts. He leads the league in strikeouts with 91 in 59 1/3 innings. For those counting at home, he's striking out 13.8 batters per nine innings. De Paula has a 0.98 WHIP and is yielding 5.5 hits per nine innings.

      Yankees starting pitcher prospect Rafael De Paula struck out a season-high 12 batters Friday, as he won a third straight start for Class A Charleston. The right-handed pitcher has managed at least 10 strikeouts in three of his first seven starts and hasn't had less than five strikeouts in a start. DePaula improved to 3-2 with a 2.70 ERA and .178 opponents' batting average. He's managed 58 strikeouts to 16 walks in 33 1/3 innings. He's allowed one home run, 10 runs and 21 hits. The non-drafted free agent is considered the Yankees' 10th-best prospect by Baseball America.
