The Cardinals selected the contract of catcher Travis Tartamella from Triple-A Memphis on Monday. Tartamella has spent his entire career in the minors, batting just .203/.236/.246 over 40 games and 118 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis this season. The move was made following Yadier Molina's thumb injury, and he will now provide depth behind Tony Cruz and Ed Easley. Xavier Scruggs was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
