Padres starting pitcher Ian Kennedy was reinstated from the paternity list Tuesday. He is slated to pitch Wednesday at Milwaukee. Pitcher Leonel Campos was optioned to Triple-A El Paso to clear a spot on the roster.
The Padres have promoted starting pitcher Leonel Campos from Triple-A El Paso and designated for assignment catcher Tim Federowicz. Campos pitched in six games a year ago but has yet to toe the rubber for San Diego this season. He has earned the promotion by allowing just 28 hits in 49 1/3 innings and posting a 2.92 ERA for the Chihuahuas. Federowicz has been sidelined all year with a knee injury. He was reinstated before receiving the DFA tag.
The Padres optioned pitchers Robbie Erlin and Leonel Campos to Triple-A El Paso and re-assigned shortstop Diego Goris and pitchers Matt Wisler and Jay Jackson to minor-league camp Sunday. Erlin has started 20 games for the major-league team over the last two seasons. He finishes his spring with two earned runs allowed in six innings. Wisler, who is considered one of the team's top pitching prospects, allowed eight earned runs in five innings over three appearances.
The Padres announced several roster moves on Monday. The team recalled Robbie Erlin and selected the contracts of Cory Spangenberg and Leonel Campos. Additionally, San Diego transferred Carlos Quentin and Yonder Alonso to the 60-day disabled list.
The Padres have sent pitcher Keyvius Sampson to Triple-A El Paso and outfielder Rymer Liriano to Double-A San Antonio. They have reassigned pitcher Leonel Campos and shortstop Jonathan Galvez to minor league camp.
