The Diamondbacks re-assigned outfielder Shelley Duncan, first baseman Mike Jacobs, catcher Blake Lalli and infielder Andy Marte down to minor-league camp on Sunday.
The Diamondbacks re-signed first baseman Mike Jacobs to a minor league contract Saturday, Baseball America reports. The 33-year-old Jacobs signed with Arizona halfway through last season and hit .304 with 18 home runs and 65 RBI over 82 games at Triple-A Reno.
The Diamondbacks have signed first baseman Mike Jacobs and assigned him to Triple-A Reno, the Arizona Republic reports. He went 4 for 19 with four runs and two RBI as a member of the Diamondbacks in 2012. Jacobs spent the first part of 2013 with Oaxaca of the Mexican League, hitting .275/.367/.565 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI in 131 at-bats. He hit .279/.362/.486 with 18 home runs and 60 RBI in 333 at-bats for Reno last season.
The Mariners released starting pitcher Jon Garland and first baseman Mike Jacobs on Saturday. Garland and Jacobs both requested their releases, MLB.com reports.
MLB.com's Greg Johns reported on Thursday that the Mariners have singed Mike Jacobs to a minor league deal and invited him to spring training. Jacobs played in 13 games with Arizona last season, hitting .211 and driving in two runs. His best season came in 2008, when he hit 32 home runs for the Marlins.
