    • Royals' Alex Rios: Club option declined by Royals
      By RotoWire Staff

Rios's club option was not picked up for 2016, Andy McCullough of The Kansas City Star reports. Rios missed a spattering of games this season due to a variety of health concerns, but his ability at the plate took a noticeable slip in 2015. His .255 batting average total was the worst mark he's submitted since 2009 (.247 in 2009 with Blue Jays and White Sox) and his .287 on-base percentage was the lowest total in his career. While he did have some nice moments during the Royals' World Series run, he's towards the back end of his career and could be in line for more of a platoon role with another team in 2016.

    • Royals outfielder Jonny Gomes was a late addition to Thursday's lineup against the White Sox, MLB.com reported. Gomes will replace Alex Rios in right field due to Rios' sore back. However, it's unlikely his presence in the lineup will be consistent moving forward. He will bat eighth in Rios' place.

    • Royals OF Alex Rios is out of the lineup Saturday against the Tigers. Rios will rest for the first time in his 10 games since returning from a bout with the chicken pox. He's been one of the hottest hitters in the lineup during that stretch, batting .361 with a pair of homers, four RBI, and a stolen base. Jonny Gomes will cover right field for Rios in Saturday's contest.

    • Royals right fielder Alex Rios went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a walk and two runs scored in a 8-4 win over the Indians on Thursday. The three-hit game extended Rios' hit streak to eight games and he's raised his average 14 points in that span. Along with the average boost, he has two home runs and four doubles in that span as well. In limited time, Rios has put together a pretty nice year, as he has a .265 average with four homers and eight steals in 91 games played this season. It seemed as though Rios had lost most of his fantasy relevancy over recent years, but he still has value in deep formats and in AL-only leagues.

    • Royals RF Alex Rios launches solo homer in win over Indians
      By CBSSports.com Staff

Royals right fielder Alex Rios went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over the Indians. Rios has been swinging a hot bat since returning from an eight-game absence due to chicken pox. The veteran outfielder has hit safely in six straight games, with two homers and three RBI in that span. Rios also continued to punish Josh Tomlin, against whom he has now hit .429 (6-for-14) over his career, with tonight's round-tripper marking the first time he'd left the yard against the Indians' starter. Although he has only seen the field for 89 contests this season, Rios' experience should be a valued asset during the Royals' postseason run.
