    • Rangers' Prince Fielder: Placed on 60-day DL
      By RotoWire Staff

Fielder (neck) was placed on the 60-day DL on Tuesday. This was a procedural move removing Fielder from the 40-man roster. Fielder has already announced the end of his playing career after undergoing neck-fusion surgery last summer, but he will remain on the 40-man roster in the offseasons, likely through the end of his contract (2020).

    • Rangers' Prince Fielder: Expected to retire
      By RotoWire Staff

Fielder (neck) is expected to announce his retirement in a press conference Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports. It was known that the neck injury Fielder is recovering from would end his 2016 season, but it now appears it will prevent him from ever taking the field again. Expect Fielder's status to be updated further once either team or player confirm the report.

    • Rangers' Prince Fielder: Surgery went as expected
      By RotoWire Staff

Fielder (neck) underwent surgery Friday and will be in a neck brace for the next two weeks before being re-examined, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports. Fielder's surgery went as expected and if everything looks right when he gets it checked out two weeks from now, he should begin rehabbing for next season in due time. The 32-year-old had one of the worst years of his career in 2016, hitting just .212/.292/.334 with eight home runs and 44 RBI, and will have a long offseason to clear his mind and recover for 2017.

    • Fielder (neck) will undergo season-ending surgery on Friday. He will undergo surgery for herniation of C4/C5 disc on Friday, which will be performed by Dr. Drew Dossett. Fielder was one of the biggest busts in fantasy this year and he will now undergo the second major herniated disc surgery of his career. He hit .212/.292/.334 with eight home runs in 89 games and his .626 OPS was by far the lowest mark of his career. It is hard to realistically expect much from him going forward, but given how much money remains on his contract ($120 million), he will certainly get plenty of chances to return to form.

    • Fielder (neck) is expected to undergo surgery later in the week, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. The Rangers were hoping Fielder would be able to avoid surgery for the herniated disc in his neck, but after a meeting with another doctor Monday, it's been recommended that he undergoes what would be a season-ending procedure. The team has yet to offer official confirmation, but at this point it seems all but inevitable that Fielder remains sidelined until 2017. Assuming that is indeed the case, Mitch Moreland and Jurickson Profar will continue to serve as the top options at first base and designated hitter.
