Rays outfielder Rich Thompson is dealing with a foot fracture and may be done for the season at Triple-A Durham, the Tampa Bay Times reports Monday. Thompson last played in the majors last year with the Rays and saw 22 at-bats, hitting .091. He is batting .249 with Durham this season over 189 at-bats.
The Tampa Bay Rays released outfielder and designated hitter Jack Cust on Saturday. Cust's release comes on the heels of another round of cuts for the Rays. They optioned infielder Cole Figueroa, outfielder Rich Thompson, pitcher Kirby Yates, first baseman Leslie Anderson and reliever Dane De La Rosa to minor league camp.
