      By Chris Towers

Rangers third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff's herniated disc did not respond to an epidural shot the way the team hoped, and surgery is looking like an increasingly likely outcome, according to MLB.com Tuesday. "Surgery is a last thing, but I think now it's to the point that maybe the time has come," Kouzmanoff said. "There was just an adjustment period for a couple days. It was hard to swallow, but now it's like, OK, this is the way it's going to be and we just have to make a decision to move on from here." Kouzmanoff is dealing with numbness in his right leg and calf, which might require surgery to heal. He will get a second opinion Friday in Anaheim before making a decision. He will likely need 7-to-12 weeks to recovery is surgery is the route he takes.
