    Player Outlook

Kendrys Morales got a healthy dose of Royals magic last year, turning what seemed like a reckless signing by general manager Dayton Moore to gold with numbers much like he had in his glory years with the Angels prior to his ill-fated walk-off celebration in 2010. He showed better than ever strike-zone judgment and provided power at a park that normally suppresses it, making him a fixture in mixed-league lineups after going widely undrafted last spring. It's fair to say he won't hit 30 homers, which limits his upside as a DH-only player, and at 32, a repeat of his 2015 numbers may be the best-case scenario. But if his history and unfavorable eligibility allow him to slide to the late rounds, he'll be a bargain, actually.

    Player News
    • Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales will start Game 3 of the World Series on the bench, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports. With the Series transitioning to Citi Field, the Royals will be without his spot in the lineup. First baseman Eric Hosmer wasn't expected to give way to Morales, meaning the latter will likely enter the game as a pinch-hitter.

Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales (quad) is set to play Sunday against Minnesota. Morales left Thursday's game with the quad issue, but he was available to pinch hit Friday. He'll bat cleanup for the Royals in his return to the lineup for the last game of the regular season.

    • Royals first baseman Kendrys Morales exited Thursday's game against the White Sox with a left quad injury, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports. Morales will join both Lorenzo Cain and Alex Rios as Royals players who are now day-to-day with injuries that have arisen in the past couple days. Fortunately, none of the injuries appear overly serious, so it's quite possible they'll be available for the Royals' postseason run.

    • Kendrys Morales (ankle) will be available to pinch hit for the Royals on Monday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports. Morales is being held out of Monday's lineup as he continues to battle a bruised ankle. He's nearing full health, however, as manager Ned Yost said he expects Morales to return to the lineup Tuesday.

    • Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales (ankle) is not in the lineup Monday against the Cubs. Morales has been dealing with a bruised ankle, and will now be held out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games as a result. The Royals are travelling to a National League park Monday, losing the DH spot, so it's possible the day off is a result of that.
