    • Dodgers pitcher Scott Baker allowed four runs on seven hits in four innings of work in Los Angeles' 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks Saturday. Baker had a rough go of it in the first, allowing a two-run homer to Paul Goldschmidt. Then in the second, Baker gave up three more hits, pushing across another run. In the fourth, Aaron Hill smacked a lead off home run. "I was kind of fighting myself out there a little bit," Baker said per the Associated Press. "Mechanically, I just wasn't where I needed to be to get the ball down consistently. It happens sometimes. I'm thankful the guys were able to pick me up tonight and score the runs that we needed." Baker, who remains 0-1, pushed his ERA to 5.73 in 11 innings of work. He will look for his first win of the year Thursday against the Brewers.

    • Dodgers pitcher Scott Baker allowed three earned runs in Sunday afternoon's 3-1 loss to the Padres. Baker pitched seven innings and gave up a run each in the third, fourth and seventh innings. Two of those runs came on solo home runs. He allowed four hits and walked two batters. Baker did strike out six in the game. "I thought he was good," said manager Don Mattingly. "He gave us a chance to win, which is what we ask of all of our starters. Sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle and you can ride it. We'll see how it goes." This was a spot start situation for Baker in his first major-league appearance in 2015.

    • The Dodgers placed right fielder Yasiel Puig and pitcher Joel Peralta on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, MLB.com reports. Puig reinjured his hamstring Friday, leading manager Don Mattingly to say Saturday that he could possibly hit the disabled list to allow the injury the proper time to rest and heal. Mattlingly said Sunday that the team would "protect" Puig from himself after the outfielder indicated he could play in four or five days. "It's to the point where we want to get this thing right for the long haul, and in two weeks, [Puig will] be ready to play," Mattingly said. "Yasiel is disappointed. He thinks he'll be ready in four to five days. That's the tough part. We've seen that Yasiel plays at one speed. There's no real putting a governor on him. It's tough for him to say, 'Back off.' We'll protect him from himself." Peralta was also considered a candidate for the disabled list as he has been dealing with a case of dead arm and has no strength in his shoulder. "It seems to be lingering, and we want to get rid of it," Mattingly said of Peralta's issue. "We want to eliminate it and move forward. Same with Yasiel. We've messed around enough to say, 'We don't want to play around, play short out of the bullpen and off the bench.'" With two spots opening on the active roster, the Dodgers purchased the contract of pitcher Scott Baker, who's scheduled to start Sunday's game, while recalling pitcher Carlos Frias from Triple-A Oklahoma City. In order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Baker, the Dodgers transferred Brandon League to the 60-day disabled list.
