    • Escobar went 0-for-2 in Sunday's loss to the Mariners. Sunday's performance left Escobar hitting a subpar .261/.286/.323 heading into the All-Star break. However, he'd shown improvement at the plate in recent outings, having posted a .300/.333/.400 line with four extra-base hits over the last 14 days.

    • Royals' Alcides Escobar: Batting struggles continue
      By RotoWire Staff

Escobar went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Monday's loss to the Orioles. Escobar's season is once again proof that high contact rates don't always translate to high batting averages. Although he makes contact in 84 percent of his at-bats and strikes out a mere 15 percent of the time, his batting average continues to fall and is now at .253. However, when he manages to get on base, Escobar is one of the most productive players on the roster, as he's second in stolen bases with 10 and has scored 21 runs.

    • Escobar went 4-for-5 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Nationals. Escobar had been struggling mightily, with just one multi-hit game in his last 10 contests. His batting line is just .259/.288/.321 but he is at least making the most of the limited times he has been on base -- he already has seven stolen bases, putting him on pace for 43 this season.

    • Escobar went 2-for-3 with a double, a steal, an RBI and a run against the Tigers on Thursday. We're pretty much seeing the usual out of Escobar this year, as he's now swiped four bags while hitting .254. The 29-year-old shortstop continues to hit out of the leadoff spot for the Royals, but has only scored three runs, and his poor OBP has been a major contributor to the team's inconsistencies on offense. If current No. 9 batter Jarrod Dyson keeps hitting, he and Escobar could end up flipping spots in the order.

    • Escobar was 2-for-5 with an RBI, run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the A's. The veteran lead-off man recorded his second straight multi-hit game, and has hit safely in five of his last six contests. Escobar was able to tally his first RBI of the season on a two-out single in the ninth off reliever Ryan Madson. The 29-year-old has started slowly in 2016, but is 4-for-9 with a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases over his last two games.
