The Yankees reassigned RHPs J.B. Cox, George Kontos, Kanekoa Texeira and Eric Hacker, and LHP Wilkin De La Rosa to their minor league camp on Monday.
The New York Yankees invited RHP James Cox, RHP George Kontos and RHP Kanekoa Texeira to spring training.
Yankees minor league pitcher J.B. Cox won't throw for three weeks because of right shoulder tendinitis.
Two of the Yankees top relief pitching prospects, right-handers James (J.B.) Cox and Mark Melancon, were promoted Tuesday: Cox from Double-A Trenton to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre and Melancon from Class A Tampa to Trenton.
Pitcher J. Brent Cox, another Randy Hendricks client, won't be at the major league spring training camp. After he went 6-2 with a 1.75 ERA and held batters to a .196 average at Double-A Trenton, the Yankees had planned to invite him. "He injured his hand in a slight altercation," Hendricks said. "He won't be ready until minor league camp starts, so the decision was made to just start out in minor league camp. He has a slight fracture of a small bone in his hand. He should be fine when minor league camp starts."
