Catcher Rob Johnson, who was waived by St. Louis last November, has signed a minor league deal with the Padres. The twist is that he is now trying to make it as a pitcher, according to Baseball America. Johnson pitched one game for the Mets in 2012 and another for the Cardinals last season. He retired all four batters he faced.
