Indians cut some top prospectsNews: The Indians announced 15 cuts from major league camp Thursday. Right-handers Jon Meloan, Adam Miller, Hector Rondon and Juan Salas, left-hander Tony Sipp and second baseman Luis Valbuena were optioned to Triple-A Columbus. Catcher Carlos Santana were optioned to Double-A Akron. Right-hander Jack Cassel, left-hander David Huff, catcher Armando Camacaro, first baseman Jordan Brown, third baseman Wes Hodges, infielder Jesus Merchan, first baseman Beau Mills and outfielder Stephen Head were reassigned to minor league camp. Analysis: Meloan, Miller, Sipp, Valbuena, Santana (elite), Huff, Brown (elite), Hodges, Mills (elite) and Head are long-term keeper prospects. The rest of these players are nothing more than organizational depth at this point and can be ignored in all Fantasy leagues right now.
Hodges among Indians spring invitesNews: The Indians invited third baseman Wes Hodges, infielder/outfielder Stephen Head and first basemen Beau Mills and Jordan Brown to spring training. Analysis: These guys are solid prospects who figure to spend most, if not all, of the 2009 season in the minor leagues. Mills is an elite prospect, while the others are good ones in their own right. Consider them long-term keeper options at this point.
