      Cardinals' Peter Bourjos gets kicked in the face at the plate Friday

      Cardinals outfielder Peter Bourjos scored the game-winning run in the 3-2 win over the Cubs, though it was a painful run. Bourjos was the lead runner with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th. With the Cubs playing a five-man infield, Jhonny Peralta rolled a grounder passed the mound. The throw went to the plate, but it was offline. Bourjos raced home and was safe at the plate, but he was kicked by catcher David Ross on the play. Bourjos went through procedures to test for a concussion, but he seems to have been fine, according to Still, it is not clear if Bourjos will be able to play on Saturday.

      Cardinals center fielder Peter Bourjos hit a solo home run in the eighth inning of Tuesday's loss to Colorado. Bourjos went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs. He now has two home runs and eight RBI on the season. Bourjos was also caught stealing for the sixth time.

      With the return of Jon Jay from the disabled list, Cardinals outfielder Peter Bourjos has slipped to fifth on the outfield depth chart. Matt Holliday has his spot in left field solidified, so that leaves manager Mike Matheny with the struggle to find playing time in center and right field for Jay, Jason Heyward, Randal Grichuk and Bourjos.       Cardinals CF Peter Bourjos gets a breather on Tuesday

      After starting four straight games, Cardinals center fielder Peter Bourjos is being held out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. Bourjos has seen the majority of the playing time in center field ever since Jon Jay went on the disabled list in the middle of May. But Bourjos has struggled at the plate, hitting an even .200 (7 for 35) in the 12 games since Jay went down. So, Randal Grichuk will get the start in center and bat eighth on Tuesday.

      With Peter Bourjos resting after facing left-hander Jonathon Niese, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny inserted second baseman Kolten Wong back in the leadoff spot Wednesday night against the Mets. With Wong back in the leadoff spot, Matheny moved Randal Grichuk to the eighth spot. Matt Adams also returned to the lineup and is batting cleanup against Bartolo Colon and the Mets.       Center fielder Peter Bourjos is not in the Cardinals' lineup Monday in New York against the Mets, as the recently activated (back) Randal Grichuk will get the start in center, batting eighth. Grichuk began the season on the Cards' Opening Day roster but was shelved April 24 with a lower back strain. He was activated May 16 and is 2 for 5 since his return. Bourjos is hitting .160 (4 for 25) over his last eight games. With Bourjos out of the lineup, second baseman Kolten Wong moves up to hit leadoff for just the third time this season. "We'll keep feeling our way through it and hopefully somebody will take advantage of it, or nightly, somebody will take advantage of it," manager Mike Matheny said to "We have to find that good mix."

      Center fielder Peter Bourjos hit his first home run since last August, as the Cardinals loss to the Tigers in 10 innings on Saturday. Bourjos has been getting plenty of playing time in center field for the Cardinals with Jon Jay on the disabled list, and his second-inning solo shot gave the Cardinals a brief 2-1 lead.
